Dr. Sonya S. Patel, DO, originally from the Bay Area, is a Neurology specialist who owns a private practice in Los Gatos, California and has recently joined the Comprehensive Spine and Sports Center team of physicians. Dr. Patel earned her Bachelor of Sciences Degree - Biochemistry from University of California in Davis, California in 1995 and went on to obtain her Doctor of Osteopathy Degree from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. She completed her residency in Neurology at University of California, Irvine in 2004. In 2004 Dr. Patel began work at a group practice, Associated Neurology Medical Group, based in Oakland and San Ramon, California. Privileges at Summit Medical Center, Oakland, and San Ramon Regional Hospital. Both outpatient and inpatient work. In January 2006 Dr Patel successfully completed her board certification on the first attempt. In May of 2007 Dr. Patel worked at San Jose Medical Group neurologist mostly outpatient (clinical evaluations, doing EMG, EEG, some hospital work) with Privileges at O'Connor Hospital, San Jose. In August of 2010 Dr. Patel began her own private practice as an adult neurologist, Sonya S. Patel, D.O. Inc in Los Gatos. With privileges at El Camino Hospital Mountain View, El Camino Los Gatos, and Good Samaritan Hospital San Jose. Mix of outpatient and inpatient neurology. Stroke neurologist on call panel at all three hospitals. What Dr. Patel especially loves most about specializing in the Neurology field is the opportunity she gets to connect with people on a deeper level as they work together to find ways to enhance their life. When Dr. Patel is not busy helping patients; she enjoys time with her husband and two teenage boys as well as swimming, hiking and jogging.
