The CornerLoc procedure is an exciting and innovative procedure to treat a very common cause of back pain called sacroiliitis. It is a minimally invasive and effective
way to treat pain without the need for long term medication or extensive surgery.
inflammation of the sacroiliac joint - these are complex large joints between the sacrum, which is the lowest part of the spine, and a part of the pelvic
bone called the iliac crest Inflammation of one or both of these joints can cause pain, just like how inflammation in your knee can cause knee pain. The pain
caused by sacroiliitis is focused in the low back, usually around the dimple area, and is worse with any movement around that joint. Patients commonly
experience this pain when walking, standing from a seated position, or doing various activities. One way to reduce this sacroiliitis pain is to
stabilize the joint, preventing excessive movement between the sacrum and pelvis. Previously this was only done through a large surgery where rods and
bolts were placed through the sacroiliac joint. The CornerLoc procedure offers a minimally invasive way to stabilize the joint without the need for a large
guidance your doctor will guide a series of tools to the back portion of your affected sacroiliac joint. Once the joint is carefully prepared,
two CornerLoc grafts (small pieces of bone material) are placed into each joint to allow for mechanical stabilization and fusion of the joint.
The procedure is done in the outpatient setting and appropriate medication is used during the procedure so that you will feel comfortable.
procedure is an outpatient minimally invasive procedure. It does not require admission to the hospital. It helps you to achieve stabilization/fusion of the
sacroiliac joint and significant pain relief without extensive surgery with metal hardware. Finally, it does not require long term use of medication to
address your pain.
